This course introduces staff to the institutional culture, values, and professional standards that drive performance and service delivery at City University Abuja. It explains that culture is the invisible force shaping behaviour, decision-making, teamwork, and execution, and positions every staff member as both a “culture carrier” and “culture creator” responsible for building excellence daily.
The programme emphasizes an agile, student-focused institution grounded in collaboration, professionalism, integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement. It outlines how culture is intentionally built through leadership behaviour, systems, shared stories, and everyday staff actions, and clarifies the difference between culture (long-term values and behaviours) and compliance or climate (short-term mood and rules).
Across its modules, the course develops core capabilities required for institutional success: customer focus, strategic and risk-aware thinking, evidence-based decision-making, quality and speed in execution, process thinking, leadership at every level, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Staff are trained to align daily work with institutional priorities, use data to guide decisions, improve service delivery, and collaborate across departments to enhance student and stakeholder experience.
Ultimately, the course positions culture as City University Abuja’s strongest execution engine and competitive advantage. By embedding shared values, accountability, innovation, and service excellence into everyday work, it aims to build a responsive, high-performing institution where every employee contributes directly to student success, institutional reputation, and long-term societal impact.
